You Can Be the Change

Mentorship & Leadership Development

At GIRLS we believe sports are a classroom. Every practice, every game, every setback and comeback teaches something. Our Mentorship and Leadership Development programs make sure female student-athletes have the guidance, the connections, and the knowledge to turn what they learn on the field into a future that is entirely their own.

We connect female student-athletes with professional and collegiate athletes who have walked the exact path they are on right now. These are women who know what it takes — what they wish someone had told them, what they did right, and what they would do differently. Through in-person visits, virtual sessions, and panel events hosted at GIRLS chapters, our athlete connections give girls direct access to the voices that inspire them most and the honest guidance they need most.

The Roadmap Nobody Gave You

The college recruitment process is overwhelming — and for first-generation college students and underserved athletes it can feel completely out of reach. GIRLS brings certified counselors and recruitment experts directly to our chapters to walk female student-athletes through everything — athletic recruitment timelines, highlight reel tips, scholarship applications, academic eligibility requirements, and the scholarships that exist specifically for student-athletes that most families never hear about. We believe every girl who has the talent and the drive deserves to know every option available to her.

Leaders On and Off the Field

Being a great athlete and being a great leader are not the same thing — but they build on each other in powerful ways. Our Leadership Development Program teaches female student-athletes how to communicate, advocate for themselves and their teammates, navigate conflict, manage their time, and show up with intention in every room they enter. Through workshops, team challenges, and peer mentorship, GIRLS members develop the skills that colleges, coaches, and employers are looking for — and the confidence to use them.

Know Your Worth — On the Team and Off It

One of the most important things a female athlete can learn is what a healthy relationship with a coach looks like — and what it does not. GIRLS addresses the conversations that are often skipped: understanding appropriate boundaries with coaches and team staff, recognizing unhealthy team dynamics, speaking up when something feels wrong, and building the kind of teammate relationships that make everyone stronger. This programming is not about fear — it is about empowerment. Every girl should know her rights, her worth, and who to talk to when something is not right.
